Bring on 2016

An exciting year for the film and the Member's Lounge

What an exciting end to 2015.

The news about the Rock Hall of Fame is such a great achievement for the band, solidifying their place in music history.   As 2016 begins there is a lot of buzz in the air.   We are submitting to film festivals and are on the edge of our seats awaiting where and when the world premier will be.  Over the past week, I have spoken on the phone with Robert, Peter and Guercio regarding the film and the induction.  We also begin our last hurdle for the film which is music licensing.  For, this is a music documentary.

What should the Member's Lounge expect in 2016?

Well, a lot of behind the scenes photos, coverage from the film's premieres, anecdotes of Terry and other adventures we don't even know about yet.   I have always wanted the members to feel as if they are on the journey with me.  As production comes to an end, the journey does not.

Thank you Members, you rock

Hey, make your own

Remembering sitting with Matt, Tom and the fender replicas they made.   It was so cool to meet these guys.  They have so much knowledge about my dad's pignose guitar.  And yes, this is a screen shot from the film.

Still finding treasures:

Found in my Grandparent's safe place was this little reel to reel.  We are always looking to see if there are any unheard recordings that may lead to evidence of his solo album.  So far we haven't found any, but who knows.  Keep looking and you never know.

New Vid from the edit suite : The Love Story :

Yes, my Daddy was a romantic.  He was a lover.  I feel this is something I really conect with, doing something extra special for the people you care about.  With my mom, he wooed her, sending over a dozen letters from the road in the first couple months that they met.  He also was very adventurous and loved taking my mom on road trips.  Well, my mom and the dogs.  (As many of you know he loved dogs too).

Here is a little clip from the edit suite last week.  Click here to watch the clip    and enter the following password to view:  tklove

Letter from Michelle:

Hello Members!

Hope your summer is going well. Last week I went into the sound booth and recorded my voice over for the opening of the film.  Getting to the moment where I was recording this meant that we are really getting close to wrapping up the film.

Over the years I have rewritten the opening VO many times.  It has taken many forms including a letter to my Dad in which I was speaking directly to him.  I really needed to see the first cut of the film in order to know exactly what I wanted to say.  What I realized is the VO is talking to you, the Members, the fans.   The people who have decided to sit down and take part in the Terry Kath Experience.

Thank you for taking this journey with me.

You rock!

Letter tell so much:

Some of us "older" guys choose not to participate with Facebook. But your website is awesome. I think "Introduction" epitomizes all that Terry is, and his great talents - composing great melodies, arranging a full band, superb vocals, and obviously his awesome guitar work! That's my vote.

And why hasn't someone like Fender built an affordable Terry Kath tribute Telecaster? It is such a functional instrument offering options standard Tele's do not have, like the Strat Vibrato system, and bridge Humbucker.

John W

HI John

Thanks for reaching out.  'Introduction' is a killer track and was talked about by everyone we interviewed.  In fact, we used it to kick off the film.  Can't wait to share all the knowledge about the song that was shed on us.

Regarding the Fender guitar, we couldn't agree more.  I will leave it at that.

Best Michelle

All that lost footage

From Nanette:

"So excited to hear the progress of the editing of your film.  Just wanted to say that I hope the clips that end up on the editing room floor don't get lost.  It would be cool to have an 'unedited' version one day, after the film is a huge success.  Us fans would love to see all that you compiled in your search for Terry."

Response from Michelle:

"Great minds think alike.   Our first string out was three and half hours!  This past two weeks has been about cleaning, scrubbing and cut down.  The only thing that makes me OK with loosing all the little stories is the thought of sharing them on the website.   On day the Members Lounge video page will be so awesome.  Now we just need to finish up the film!  Thanks for helping with the fan page. You rock!"

Today on the Edit Table...

Hello Members!

Hope spring is treating you well. Today Tony and I are molding my interview with Mike Campbell of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.  What a great guy.  He's got a mini farm out side his studio with a couple pigs that come when you ring a bell. The studio is a serious chill spot and I didn't wand to leave. He was so kind and made me some of his wife's special cold pressed, acid free coffe.

This was a fun character to interview. He had such kind words about my dad's playing and voice. Great rid-bits and sound bites for some important story archs.

Checking in & Welcome New Members :

First off I would like to welcome all the new members.  It has been so amazing to get such a great response after the relaunch to the website.  All of your support is helping us get through the post-production craziness.

What has been happening?

Well, it has been a tough month.  First Tony, our editor, got bit on his hand by a dog and needed stiches.  There was a lot of editing with one finger.

For me things have been tough and had to take a month break from everything.  We have a family member who just got the worst news with her cancer battle and the whole family had to come together.  As I move into the kids spring break, I will spend the next to weeks with the family as we help her through her next stages of the fight.

Before all of our personal problems take over the production Tony, Jordan and I met to talk about the schedule for the film and make sure that we are balancing our personal life, work and the film.  Tony passed us the rough edit of Act one and two for notes.  I watched it last night and am so exited to get back to editing in April.

Thanks again.

More to come.....
